Monday morning is a messy one for drivers in Kings County, with plows and salt trucks out cleaning up parking lots and roads after the overnight mix of snow and rain.

The Environment Canada forecast for Dec. 30 calls for rain and fog ending and light winds, increasing to 30 to 50 km/h gusts near noon. A high of 4 C is predicted for Kentville. Skies will clear overnight and temperatures drop to minus 13 C

Cold temperatures are forecast through the rest of the week and Environment Canada has issued an alert for a potential winter storm Jan. 2 and 3, bringing snow, wind and blowing snow to all of mainland Nova Scotia
