The committee handling Seafest may have disbanded, but the festival is still going ahead.

People get ready to lower the shark and lay it on the tarp for inspection by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans at last year's SeaFest.

Two weeks ago the organizers issued a press release stating they were no longer interested in continuing the festival. They also gave any leftover funds to the Queens Recreational Boating Association.

However organizing the festival has shifted to a new group.

Patricia Dexter, a representative of the Boating Association, says they will take on organizing the festival.

The annual shark fishing derby takes place in August at the Brooklyn Marina.
