Paul Willison and his son Matthew were hoping to photograph a snowy owl on Saturday (Dec. 21). Finding one caught in a fence at Chebogue Point wasn't what they were expecting.

"We managed to unhook the wing from the barb wire with some help from a passerby," said Paul Willison.

"It took us awhile to get him unhooked."

The bird had tried to free himself by pecking at his wing and his beak was bloodied. After finally freeing the owl, the men contacted the Department of Natural Resources and turned the bird over to the officer when he arrived.

More information on this owl will be published when it becomes available.
