A joint operation involving Digby RCMP, General Investigation Section, Street Crime Unit, and the Bridgetown RCMP Street Crime Unit resulted in trafficking charges against a 29-year-old man from Digby.

On Monday, Dec. 16 at approximately 1 p.m., RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 303 in Conway near Digby.  The male driver was arrested without incident after he was found in possession of a significant quantity of crack cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.

"A seizure of this magnitude will have a significant impact on the community," said Staff Sgt. Rocky Calhoun, the new detachment commander at Digby Detachment. "Having various detachments working closely together to keep drugs off the street sends a strong message to the local drug trade."

Todd Bernard Simms is facing a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on January 13. The investigation is continuing.
