Second snowstorm this week hits province

The second snowstorm of this week has shut down schools and the municipal office for all of Dec. 18.

Snow and later rain fell on Queens County this morning, making for a messy drive for anyone brave enough to be on the road.

The storm on Dec. 15 also shut down roads and businesses for the day. 

So far, there are no reported power outages from Nova Scotia Power. 

Check on Highway Conditions. There was a reported accident around Sable River/Granite Village just before 6 a.m. The highway reopened at 8:30 a.m.

Snow at times heavy ending this afternoon then cloudy with 60 percent chance of flurries. Risk of freezing rain this morning. Rain along the coast this morning and early this afternoon. Snowfall amount 20 cm except 10 cm along the coast. Local blowing snow. Wind east 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming northwest 40 gusting to 70 this afternoon. High plus 3 with temperature falling to minus 1 this afternoon.
