The trial of a Coldbrook woman accused of stealing money from Northeast Kings Education Centre in Canning has been adjourned to 2014.

Jacqueline Elizabeth Rhynard, 52, is charged with theft over $5,000 while she worked in the school office at Northeast Kings Education Centre.

The offence -  alleged to have taken place between Mar. 1, 2009, and January 31 of this year - was uncovered after the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board conducted an audit and found irregularities.

During her tenure at NKEC, Rhynard was responsible for accounting, answering phones and other secretarial duties.

Rhynard pleaded not guilty to the charge in July.

Her trial was set to begin Dec. 4 in Kentville provincial court, but both the crown and defence made a joint request for the adjournment. The court granted the request and ordered the parties to return to court in Kentville Feb. 10 when a new trial date will be set.

Rhynard was not present in court for the Dec. 4 ruling.

Give her the same deal we gave the Senators, a golden package, she deserves more. At least she worked, and was probably under paid.
