Gaul moving on by late spring
Upper Clements Parks will be looking for a new general manager starting in early 2014.
David Brown, chairman of the Upper Clements Parks Society, said Thursday that current general manager Gregg Gaul is leaving the parks next spring.
“ Gregg advised the board some time ago that this past summer would be his last with the Parks,” Brown said. “He has been working with the board on a transition plan that will see him depart in late spring of next year and therefore we will begin a search for a new GM early in the new year.”
Gregg Gaul, who is credited with turning around the non-profit organization, said that “the time is right in a lot of ways…I want to do something different and at the same time change is a good thing.” Gaul adds “we have accomplished some significant improvements with respect to enhanced processes, creating a sustainable business while moving the ownership away from the Province in 2007, and saving taxpayers over $2 million dollars, while investing $3 million dollars in the theme park and opening an adventure park in 2012.”
“Gregg's leadership and professionalism has ensured that our mandate and contribution to the economic well being of the province's southwest region through direct and indirect economic spinoffs is well positioned for future development and growth,” Brown said.
The Upper Clements Parks’ Society, with representation from surrounding municipalities, owns and operates the Upper Clements Theme Park and Upper Clements Adventure Park, employs 175 people and brings 70,000 to 80,000 visitors to the region annually.
