Jeff  Sunderland, Digby’s harbour manager since early 2008, has been chosen to replace Gordon Wilson as deputy chief administrative officer with the Municipality of Digby.

Jeff Sunderland taking over as Municipality’s deputy CAO.

He begins his new job Jan. 6.

Sunderland, a Moncton native who moved to Digby in 2002 and worked as a reporter with The Digby Courier, said today (Thursday) he is looking forward to the challenges of his new position.

Sunderland worked in commercial and pleasure boat sales after leaving the Courier, and became the first manager of the Digby Harbour Port Authority after it gained local control of the wharf in December, 2007.

He said the authority will soon be advertising to fill the harbour manager position. Sunderland’s last day is Jan. 3.

At the Municipality, former deputy CAO Wilson oversaw such areas as airport operations and marketing, and contracts for planning and development, solid waste, engineering, public works, and recreation services. He was elected earlier this fall as MLA for Clare Digby.
