A 22-year-old New Minas man face charges in connection with what Halifax Regional Police are calling a "serious assault" Oct. 21 at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside.
Shortly before 9 p.m., a 37-year-old male inmate was allegedly assaulted by two other inmates inside the facility. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, two suspects were arrested at the scene and remain in custody.
The New Minas man and a 19-year-old Dartmouth man are charged with one count each of aggravated assault and breach of court order. They will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
No names have been released by the police.
