F-18 to arrive Thursday night
A spokesperson for the Yarmouth International Airport Air Experience, taking place this weekend (Sept. 14/15), says the arrival of the Snowbirds 431 demonstration squadron has been delayed due to a low ceiling in Moncton, N.B.
Arrival was expected Thursday afternoon.
The Snowbirds 431 demonstration squadron, the national CF-18 demonstration team, and the SkyHawks parachute team are scheduled to perform in Yarmouth this weekend.
The captain for the team will reassess weather conditions Friday morning.
"If they don't make it tomorrow, they will be flying in Saturday morning," said air show committee member Maria MacDonald (Fahey).
The national CF-18 demonstration team is expected to arrive this evening.
A post tropical storm, Gabrielle, is expected to affect the region on Friday (air show media day), with possibly heavy rainfall.
Air show organizers plan on implementing the show and all flight performances up until the moment that they are unable to do so.
The air show is the only one in the province to feature the top three Royal Canadian Air Force display teams this summer: the Snowbirds 431 demonstration squadron, the national CF-18 demonstration team, and the SkyHawks parachute team.
Civilian acts include Pete McLeod Aerosports, Gary Ward Airshows and Glory Days Jet Dragster. There will also be static displays.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the show runs 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept.15, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Walk-ins are $5/day, children under five are free. Private vehicles (up to seven seats) are $25 inc. passengers.
