The Hantsport Fire Department was called to a barn fire at 386 Lockhartville Road, Lockhartville, Kings County at 1:49 p.m., March 14.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a 30 x 50 barn fully engulfed with fire. The barn was being used for storage at the time of the fire. The fire did spread to a nearby home; however firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and the house suffered only minor damage.
Mutual Aid was requested from Windsor, Brooklyn, Greenwich and Wolfville fire
departments at the scene, while New Minas and Kentville Fire Departments provided
standby coverage to other stations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hantsport Fire Department. The barn
was insured.
There was one minor injury to a firefighter on scene. The firefighter was
treated and released on scene.
