Kings County residents are focusing on cleaning up from a Feb. 9 blizzard today that dumped as much as 40 centimetres of snow in places around the county.

Environment Canada ended a blowing snow warning Sunday morning, but many churches cancelled services as they attempted to clean up from the snowfall. Acadia University also cancelled all swim lessons and delayed opening of the campus until noon.

The annual Hearts on Ice fundraiser at the Acadia Arena will go ahead as scheduled, however, say organizers. It is scheduled to run from 2-4 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Cardiac Care program.

The Department of Transportation issued a release Sunday morning saying that blowing and drifting snow continues to make driving difficult. Roads are snow-covered or partially covered. Series 100 highways are passable with caution.

Unnecessary travel is not recommended. Motorists are encouraged to stay off highways to allow plows and salt trucks to continue to clear roads.
