The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture carried out maintenance work around the Grand Pré Marsh recently. Approximately 3,000 metric tonnes of large armour rock was placed on the riverbank of the Cornwallis River to prevent further erosion of the foreshore in front of the dyke, which helps protect 3,000 acres of valuable farmland and municipal infrastructure. Maintenance work is carried out under the Agricultural Marshland Conservation Act, which protects over 15,000 hectares acres of agricultural land in Nova Scotia. - Wendy Elliott
