September 16, 2007 to September 22, 2007

 - PEACH, Rexford Conlon “Rex” - 90, Falmouth, Hants Co. It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother on Sunday, September 16, 2007, in Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home. Born September 19, 1916, in Hantsport, he was a son of the late W. Leslie and Bertha (Patterson) Peach. Rex was a Second World War veteran, serving with the navy. In his early years, along with his family, he operated a farm, also working with the Department of Agriculture as a Fruit and Vegetable Inspector until his retirement at the age of 65. He was a long-time volunteer at the Hants County Exhibition starting in 1932 at the age of 16. He became vice-president, director and chairman of the fruit and vegetable committee. Throughout his lifetime Rex received many awards for his volunteerism to agriculture such as “Showman - Farmer of the Year” in 1959 at the Hants County Exhibition, and also from his church. Other than his family, his other loves were gardening, woodworking and fishing. He was a fun loving, caring person who made people welcomed in his home. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humour, both sides of a practical joke and enjoying a good game of playing cards, and most of all, winning. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nora (Graham); son, David (Elva), Falmouth; daughter, Dianne (Frank) Phillips, Sackville; grandchildren, Tammy (Marc) Blue, Sandra (Wayne Hopkins) Peach, David (Paula White) Peach, Shawn (Holly) Phillips, and Troy Phillips; great-grandchildren, Allison and Natalie, Chloe and Caleb, and Owen; also brother, George (Jean), and sister, Minnie Greeno. Rex was predeceased by sisters, Eva (Wilson), Lydia Arnburg, and Margaret Armstrong; brothers, Harold, Howard, Herbert, Ralph, Lorne, LeRoy, and Austin; and great grandson, Logan. A special thank you to the Windsor Elms and Palliative Care staff for the outstanding care and compassion given to our father. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 18 with prayers being held at 8:45 p.m. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, in St. George's Anglican Church, Upper Falmouth, Rev. Tom Henderson officiated. Interment was held in St. George's Anglican Church Cemetery. A reception will be held in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Rex may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, 6009 Quinpool Rd., Suite 300, Halifax, NS B3K 5J7 (1-800-611-6345) or Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home, 590 King St., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
