 - Donald Beverly “Don” Spinney – 73, of North Alton, Kings County, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2007 at home. Born in Canning, Kings County, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Ethel (Hales) Spinney. He had been self-employed as a farmer, a construction contractor and developer. Don enjoyed music. He played several instruments and in recent years created a CD. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by five sisters, Joyce (Mrs. Kenneth Carey), Hamilton, Ontario; Reverend Ardythe Ashe, Black Point, Halifax County; Marguerite (Mrs. Keith Rogers), Bridgewater, Lunenburg County; Rita (Mrs. Kenneth Jess) and Joanne (Mrs. Michael Johnston), both of Coldbrook, Kings County; three brothers, Eugene (Sheila) and Greg (Dorothy), both of Coldbrook; Frank (Donna), Greenwood; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Sheila Mildred Rogers and a brother, James. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville where a funeral service followed by a reception was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007. Reverend Ardythe Ashe officiated. Burial took place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Family flowers only by request.
