The multi-purpose trail, which consists of a .8 kilometer sidewalk section and 1.5 km "rail to trail" section, cost $670,000 to build.

Premier MacDonald and Woods Harbour councillor, George El-Jakl unveiled a plaque for the trail, then the premier walked with residents to the new $400,000 Woods Harbour fire hall where a reception was held. The project was made possible with a $250,000 Emergency Services Provider Fund.

Originally a $5-million investment announced in September 2007, the fund more than doubled over the past year to respond to an overwhelming list of applicants.
