Y.F.D. Ladderathon for Muscular Dystrophy
Beginning at 4 P.M. on Thursday, July 17th until Saturday 19th at 6 P.M. a Yarmouth firefighter will be sitting atop of the Y.F.D. ladder truck in aid of Muscular Dystrophy.
Everyone is welcome to stop by at the West Nova Fuels yard across from Wendy’s/Tim Horton’s on Water Street and make a donation for a very worthy cause.
Lake Vaughan Strawberry Social
A strawberry social and yard sale will take place at their fire hall this Saturday, July 5th from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. A cold plate, sweets, tea and coffee is on the menu. Advanced tickets are $10.00 or pay at the door. Contact Gordon Raynard at 902-740-3018 for more info.
Date in History
July 3, 2005 – A small garage on Hwy 1 in Hebron was destroyed during a 3:59 A.M. fire. Y.F.D. was at the scene for approximately an hour and a half.
Y.F.D. Attends M.V.A.
A three vehicle accident at the intersection of Starr’s Rd. and Cottage Lane on June 21 at 10:23 A.M. had the Pumper #4 at the scene but was not needed to assist.
F.F.M. Volunteers
The Firefighter’s Museum will be open evenings until 9 P.M. during the months of July and August. A list of volunteers for the time slot of 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. will be published each week as well as announced on the 5:30 pager test.

Product Alert and Recall
CSA International, American Flame Inc of Fort Wayne, Indiana is voluntarily recalling approximately 12,000 fire place gas valves. The valves can continue to allow gas flow through the pilot when the valve has been switched to “off”. Posing a fire or explosion hazard. The recall involves American Flame AF-4000 Series installed in residential fireplaces. Date codes include 0622 through 0718. The gas valve model number is located on the bottom of each gas valve. The date code is located above the label. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fireplaces and contact their dealer for free repair.
Leak Testing for Propane Cylinders
1. Make a solution of dishwashing soap and water
2. Leave the barbecue valve off and the cylinder valve on.
3. Spread the soapy solution generously on all fittings and the hose.
4. If bubbles appear and become larger or increase in numbers, then you have a leak.
4. Never check for leak with and open flame.
All gas leaks, especially in a confined area must be repaired immediately or the gas supply shut off immediately.
