Royal Canadian Legion Mersey Branch #38 President, Scottie Rodger says Queens MLA Vicki Conrad arranged about $5,000 in funding for projects in Port Mouton and Brooklyn.

The Port Mouton Cenotaph now features new fencing around the site.

Rodger says, “People in Port Mouton were complaining about the Cenotaph and one of vets there approached me about three years ago and said people we’re getting cheesed about it. I had it in the back of my mind and when Democracy 250 came with donations we decided to do Brooklyn and Port Mouton.”

In Brooklyn, bricks have been removed about four feet around the Cenotaph and replaced with grass to allow wreaths to be placed into the soil instead of blowing away, as often happened, says Rodger.
