A severe electrical storm early Friday morning knocked out Annapolis Valley Radio service on CKEN 97.7 FM and Magic 94.9 FM for most of the day Friday.

AVR/Magic 94.9/CFAB spokesperson Mike Mitchell confirmed that service was interrupted shortly after 2 a.m. Friday as a result of damage resulting from the storm.

As of 2:30 p.m., CKEN 97.7 and Magic 94.9 were still off the air. Work was ongoing to repair the damage and it was hoped that service on both stations would be fully restored by late afternoon.

Transmission on CFAB Windsor, CKAD Middleton and CKDY Digby was not affected by the storm.
