Spa weekend

Sept. 5-7

A spa weekend for women will be held at Camp Peniel, Sept. 5-7. Speaker is Ruthie Hamilton. Cost is $65 early registration, $75 late. Registration forms at churches, the Truth and The Life Christian Bookstore or through Camp Peniel (902-649-2471).

The second annual St. Ambrose Church information fair will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14 following each Mass in the basement of St. Ambrose Church (Jubilee Room). Display tables will be set up with information regarding the various ministries and programs available in the St Ambrose Parish. Refreshments will be available.

The fourth annual Glen Allen Memorial Poker Run will take place at the Lions Club hall, Parade Street, Sunday, Sept. 14. Registration 11 a.m. Fee: $10. Money raised for the local food bank.

Soprano Sally Dibblee and pianist Robert Kortgaard will be performing on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Yarmouth County Museum, 7:30 p.m. presented by Hear!Here! in Yarmouth, a newly formed committee comprising local music lovers who believe people in southwestern Nova Scotia shouldn’t have to travel to enjoy classical musicians in performance. Hall of fame hours change

The Sports Hall of Fame, 435 Main St., is now open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Group visits can be arranged by calling Gloria Goodwin at 902-742-5405. Deadline for hall of fame nominations is Sept. 30.

The Baby and Me peer support group meets Tuesday mornings, 10 - 11:30, at Yarmouth Superstore’s community room. All infants with their parents and/or grandparents, as well as pregnant women, are welcome. Peer breastfeeding support is also available. Further info: 902-742-7141.
