Pancake breakfast

A pancake breakfast will be served in the Mug Up Tea Room at the Cape Forchu light station from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16, as part of the Lights Along the Shore Festival. Info fair/Sunday School registration

The Saint Ambrose information fair and Sunday School registration will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16, after the 9, 11:15 and 6:30 masses, at the parish centre. Table displays will feature the various groups, ministries and activities within Saint Ambrose.

Pig roast

The annual pig roast will be held at the Deerfield fire hall 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Meal includes veggies, rolls, homemade dessert and drink. $10 adults, $5 for children. Proceeds for kids for camp.

Potluck supper and auction

Sept. 15

The Old Beaver River/Port Maitland Cemeteries Preservation Society will be holding a potluck supper and auction of donated items on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Port Maitland Fire Hall. Bring a dish of your choice and think about items you might like to donate to the auction. Proceeds for restoration and maintenance of three historic cemeteries. Sponsored by the Old Beaver River/Port Maitland Cemeteries Preservation Society. To donate items or for information: Nancy Curry: 649-2368.

Pictures with words

Sept. 16

The public is invited to "Pictures With Words" at the Yarmouth County Museum & Archives Sunday, Sept. 16 from 2-4 p.m. Local writers, inspired by the Art Society's exhibit titled "Regional Images" wrote poems and short stories which are hanging with the art work. Readings, viewing the art work and light refreshments will highlight the event. Admission charged.

Marriage course

Sept. 23 St. Ambrose Cathedral will be running a marriage course starting on Sunday, Sept. 23. Organizers say this course is practical, giving married couples the tools they need to build a strong, long lasting marriag. It consists of a meal, DVD, and private discussion time for the couples. Cost is $130 for the eight meals and materials. Preregistration is essential. Call the parish office at 742-7151 to register.
