The board has received confirmation from the Department of Education for funding to begin planning for the school to replace KCA.

Dray says the local selection committee narrowed its choice to three sites, but the board has not received a timeline from the province with regards to its choice of the new location.

Funds are also in place to continue renovation projects at elementary schools in New Minas, Gaspereau, Somerset, Aylesford and Canning’s Glooscap school, currently undergoing upgrades to its electrical and air flow systems. West Hants Middle School has also been approved for similar air flow work . Construction of a new gym and music room at Middleton Regional High School is in the beginning stages, but has been complicated by challenges with the soil, which cannot support planned
