It was a day of cotton candy, auctions and games at the Milton Centennial School’s third annual spring fling, which raised $4,710. “I think we had a really good turn out,” said parent support group co-chair, Michelle Whynot. “We couldn’t of done it without the parents and the community.”

On June 7 everyone gathered at the school for theme baskets, a silent auction, penny auction, bake and plant sale, yard sale, basketball, hockey shoot, bean bag toss, surprise bags, sucker pull, archery shoot and more.

This year was a first for the webkins room, she noted. A mock jail was also set up in the gymnasium.

Whynot noted depending on how the school review goes, next year’s spring fling could be Milton Centennials School’s last one. “We’re the last primary to one school in Nova Scotia that we know of, so we’re trying to hang onto that,” she added.

She asks anyone interested in showing support for the Milton Centennial School to attend public meetings. “Anything people can do to help keep the school open would be awesome,” stated Whynot.

Money raised from this year’s spring fling will go back into the school, she said.

Ideas are in the air, such as their annual sponge bob fun day scheduled for June 20.

The rain date is June 23.

Whynot said, they might have other “fun days” such as a pizza party with free pizza and sundaes or a movie.

The school also has a science fun day coming up on June 19.
