More than 80 artists will converge on Annapolis Royal on August 16 and 17 for the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council’s (ARCAC) annual Paint the Town event. Throughout the weekend, they will paint or carve or shape iron at various sites around the town. The public is invited to watch the artists at work throughout the day – bids can be placed on art as soon as it reaches the Paint the Town gallery located at the Legion on Victoria Street; between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Final bids must be placed by 6 p.m. each day. See something you can’t live without – purchase it at a “buy-it-now” gallery price, valid until 5 p.m.

Participating artists have ranged from emerging talent to such well-known names as Rose Adams, Wayne Boucher, Geoff Butler, Tom Forrestall, Brad Hall, David Lacey, Barbara McLean, and Felicity Redgrave. They work in all styles, from traditional to contemporary, in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, watercolour, iron, stone, wood, and photography. In previous years, they have produced an average of over 500 pieces of art over the weekend. A full list of participating artists is available on the ARCAC website www.arcac.ca.

Summer Highlight

“Over the years the highlight of my summer is participating in the Annapolis Royal Paint the Town,” said artist Tootsie Emin. “Every moment is an adventure, taking in the beauty of the historical town. The event is so well organized, helpful and friendly.  Mainly, I have met many people from all over the world.  Some of which have become close friends. Thanks for the wonderful memories.”

Paint the Town is organised by ARCAC, and proceeds from the auction art sales are split 50/50 between the organization and the artists. The Annapolis Region Community Arts Council is a registered charitable organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting the arts.
