Book launch slated for Aug. 16

Wallace “Ted” Eagles will be signing copies of his new book, The Ghost of Old Sal, in Windsor Aug. 16.

A local author is ready to release a work of fiction loosely based on a family trip he’s never forgotten.

Wallace “Ted” Eagles first started writing longer pieces in an attempt to immortalize some of the tales from his childhood for his children and grandchildren.

He’s now releasing his second self-published paperback book.

His latest book, The Ghost of Old Sal, follows protagonist Ted as he joins his family in setting sail to the quaint port of Advocate to visit friends on Isle Haute.

“They are excited about fishing pollock in the clear blue waters of the Bay of Fundy and visiting with the lighthouse keeper and his family. Little do they know the intriguing adventure that lies in waiting as they embark upon a journey entrenched in mystery, calamities, and sorrow,” the synopsis reads.

Chaos ensues as the children are separated from their parents through a series of unforeseen events and the siblings have no choice but to put their survival instincts to the test.

“We had thought that our parents had drowned and we were stranded at Refugee Cove,” said Eagles.

Utter uncertainty turns to bewilderment as the struggling siblings stumble upon the Ghost of Old Sal and realize their only hope lies in completing a most perplexing task.

Eagles, author of the Mystery of Sugar Loaf, wrote The Ghost of Old Sal with pre-teen to junior high readers in mind, but he believes the 138-pageadventure mystery offers something for everyone.

“It’s an enjoyable book for all ages,” said Eagles, who asked his brother, Oswald Eagles, to illustrate both books he authored.

The Martock resident is hosting a book signing at the Superstore in Windsor Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
