Sonlight, the popular Aylesford-based gospel group has earned multiple nominations for the 2014 Maritime Gospel Music Association awards.

Since the group was formed nearly a decade ago as a way to share and celebrate faith through a love of music, Sonlight members Ken 'Sonny' Fredericks, Chris Palmer, Gina Potvin and Roxeen Roberts have cultivated a loyal local following by bringing their unique blend of music and ministry to churches and events all over Nova Scotia. 2014 marks the group’s first MGMA nominations.

When nominations for the MGMA awards were announced Aug. 1,  Sonlight was named in seven of 14 categories including trio of the year and new singing artist of the year. The group’s third and most recent CD release, ‘Is your House in Order’, was nominated as favorite CD of the year, as was the CD’s title song as favorite song of the year.

Roberts and Palmer received individual nominations as female and male vocalists of the year and Palmer was also nominated in the songwriter of the year category.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony being hosted Oct. 17-18 in Fredericton, N.B.
