The sight was a memorable one for office manager Bonnie Hurlburt – the audience, speckled with people waving phones lit like flashlights during the Eagles tribute concert at last year’s exhibition.

The tribute was so well received, the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition has lined up a tribute concert for each night of its run this year, July 29-Aug. 2.

“These are all exceptional concerts, performances that we’ve never had before,” said Hurlburt.

Another highlight coming up is the 25th anniversary of the Tri-County Talent Show on Friday, Aug. 1, at 9 p.m. A reunion show has been planned showcasing winners from the past 25 years.

For those hooked on selfies, the Ex will be providing several photo op booths on the property, complete with props like saddles, lassoes, sheriff badges, hay bales and more.

“We’re going to make it fun for everybody and they don’t even have to spend money,” said Hurlburt.

All events requiring a dirt surface will take place in the outdoor arena, which has been substantially expanded. More bleachers for spectators have also been added. Outdoor events include light horse, ox pulls, truck pulls, sawing demonstrations and skillet throwing.

The Maritime Reptile Zoo is returning with three shows daily (1:30, 5:30 and 9 p.m.), the midway will open at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and 1 p.m. on following days.

And, of course, there’s always the Kiddie Farm.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that comes to the Ex without going through the Kiddie Farm,” said Hurlburt.
