Next author in Port Medway Readers Festival set

A stormy start did little to deter the Port Medway Readers Festival, and now tickets are on sail for the second author in the series, Terry Fallis. 

Terry Fallis is the next author in the popular Port Medway Readers Festival, set to take place on Aug. 9

Fallis is reading on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Port Medway Meeting House. His latest book, No Relation, was released back in May.

Terry Fallis is the author of The Best Laid Plans, winner of the 2008 Leacock Medal for Humour, and the 2011 CBC Canada Reads crown as the “essential Canadian novel of the decade.” A six-part television miniseries based on the novel aired on CBC in early 2014. As well, Touchstone Theatre in Vancouver has The Best Laid Plansin development as a stage musical. The sequel, The High Road, published in 2010, was a finalist for the 2011 Leacock Medal. His third novel, Up and Down, hit bookstores in September 2012, debuted on the Globe and Mail bestsellers list, was a finalist for the 2013 Leacock Medal, and won the 2013 Ontario Library Association Evergreen Award. All three of his novels are published by McClelland & Stewart. The Canadian Booksellers Association named Terry Fallis the winner of the 2013 Libris Award as Author of the Year.

Terry Fallis earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University and then spent several years working in federal and Ontario politics. In 1995, he co-founded Thornley Fallis, a full service communications and digital agency with offices in Toronto and Ottawa.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at portmedwayreadersfestival.com, and at the library branches in Liverpool and Bridgewater. Following the reading will be a dinner.

To get to the meeting hall, take Exit 17A on Highway 103 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Turn right at the crossroads in Port Medway, just after the village store on the left. The address of the Meeting House is 167 Long Cove Road.
