Ian Janes from Hantsport will hit the stage at Union Street Café in Berwick on July 19. - Submitted

Ian Janes’ songs are coloured by many genres, but are always deeply rooted in soul music.

On July 19, the Hantsport native and his band will perform at Union Street Café in Berwick.

Currently stockpiling material for a new record, Janes will be performing a number of new songs. The shows will also feature music from all three of his recordings: Occasional Crush, As It Seems, and his most recent, Piece of Mine.

Piece of Mine continues to be the subject of considerable critical praise. CBC Radio 2 called it “a piece of pure gold”, and renowned music critic Bob Mersereau deemed it a “tremendous, soulful effort.”

With three studio recordings, five ECMA nominations, a Music Nova Scotia record of the year award, multiple film and television placements and more than 15 years of live performances, Janes has put in the time to hone his craft.

Joining Janes on stage will be Geoff Arsenault on drums, Nicholas D’Amato on bass and Jeff Hennessy on piano.
