As summer re-runs on television quickly approach, why not experience some of the most popular lectures at North Hills Museum on selected Tuesday evenings starting at 7 p.m. throughout July and August.

July

The first presentation on July 8, ‘Instuments of Illumination,’ focuses on the history of stained glass from 3,000 BC to the hobbyists of today. Examples of the religious and secular will be examined, along with the methods of creating this timeless art form.

On July 22, ‘Framed - The Art Around the Painting,’ enables us to learn about the subtle differences in styles of ornamentation found in frames in the golden age of this craft between the 14th and 19th centuries in Europe.

August

During the month of August the spotlight will be on the artists and paintings of the Royal Academy within the museum collection on August19, followed on August 26 by a survey of the examples of English furniture from 1600 to 1714 at North Hills, entitled ‘Keeping up with the Stuarts.’

"We decided to run these lectures again due to popular demand, but we also have a great series of new themes lined up for the fall in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of North Hills Museum Building, which include; the arrival of the Planter and Loyalist Settlers in Granville Township, the History of Patronage in the Arts with a focus on Robert P. Patterson and his collection at North Hills, and the History of Tapestry," said North Hills site supervisor Wayne Smith.
