One of world's tops Celtic bands performing in Annapolis Royal.

Outside Track performs at King's Theatre in Annapolis Royal on June 21.

“We are very excited to be able to bring the Outside Track to King’s Theatre,” says manager Geoff Keymer. One of the top Celtic acts in the world, Outside Track will be in Annapolis Royal Saturday, June 21 for a 7:30 p.m. performance.

“This is one of those international super groups made up of musicians from Scotland, Ireland, and of course Cape Breton, NS, joining forces to play music that is an integral part of all three cultures.”

Winner of Best Group in both the Live Ireland awards and the TIR awards, The Outside Track is one of the top Celtic groups anywhere. A stunning synthesis of virtuosity and energy, their marriage of Celtic music, song, and dance has been rapturously received around the world. Its five members are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new music on this traditional foundation. They effortlessly fuse traditional and contemporary with winning joie de vivre.
Each player within The Outside Track is a master of their chosen instrument with the band stacking up an impressive number of international awards. This amount of talent alone would be enough to recommend the band but in this case the result is so much greater than the sum of the parts.

The Band

The line up comprises of Aoife Scott, born into the legendary Black Family, Mairi Rankin (Beolach), Ailie Robertson (Live Ireland Winner, BBC Young Trad Finalist), Fiona Black (BBC Fame Academy Winner), and Cillian O’Dalaigh. This impressive lineup blends fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, whistle, step-dance, and vocals with breathtaking vitality.

The band has enjoyed five years of extensive touring in the UK, Europe, Canada, and the USA, including appearances at some of the largest Celtic and folk festivals in those countries.

“This is all part of our Celtic Connection series,” adds Keymer. “We are presenting the Paul McKenna Band from Scotland, July 11. We wanted to bring some of the best Celtic music groups from the British Isles that maintain a Nova Scotia connection (Nova Scotian Shannon Quinn is the fiddler with the Paul McKenna Band).”
