The Old Burial Ground Tour is back and this year there will be new stories and characters to hear.

The tour has been a staple of Privateer Days since 1995.  For the past few years it has been guided and organized by Anne Langille who has since moved away.  Now the tour is under the direction of Brittany Verge.

Before working at the Queens County Advance, Verge worked at the Queens County Museum and Perkins House.  She has guided many tours throughout the county and written and directed several Haunted Hikes.

This year’s tour includes some new characters as well as old and some rewrites, giving the community a chance to hear some untold stories.

“We wanted to infuse some comedy as well as drama into the stories while also giving out some historic information in the process,” says Verge.

The tour will also see some newcomers get a chance to try out acting in front of an audience for the first time.

“It’s a great way to act in a performance in a more relaxed setting,” says Verge.

The tour will run two nights during Privateer Days, Friday and Saturday night.  Friday’s tour will follow the Paranormal Evening hosted by the Crossed Over Paranormal Society.  Two tickets to the burial ground tour will be offered up as door prizes at the paranormal society’s event at the Trinity Church Hall. A guide from the tour will be waiting at the hall to lead guests directly to the special candlelit tour if they choose.
