Over 20 female R.C.M.P. officers from across the province plan to don red serge and march in the Grand Street Parade on May 31.

Insp. Chris MacNaughton of Kings District said the special initiative is due to 40th anniversary of the first female class graduating from the R.C.M.P. depot in Regina.

“This is a big thing for Kings District,” MacNaughton said. It’s part of a series of events to mark the anniversary around Nova Scotia.

She anticipates that close to 45 R.C.M.P. members in total will be marching in the Apple Blossom parade, along with a pipes and drums band.

Puts a whole different spin on "Lady in Red". Wonderful to see this accomplishment celebrated.
