Sisters Ariana, Sahara and Kamila Nasr, along with Ariana’s husband, Andy Flinn, make up the group Ask Your Sister. The band recently returned from touring Asia and will be in concert in Wolfville May 23 and 24. - Submitted
The family band Ask Your Sister has returned home to Wolfville after an exciting four months in Asia, where they wrote, created and performed their new show.
Featuring the three Nasr sisters and Andy Flinn, their sound focuses on the harmony vocals of sisters Ariana, Sahara and Kamila Nasr who also play saxophone, guitar and keyboard.
Flinn, who is married to Ariana, plays bass, drum triggers and beatboxes, giving the band the feeling of a full rhythm section with just one man.
The quartet began working together last summer, combining their skills, connections and experience to create something new to take them around the world.
The band began their journey by joining Sahara in India, where she has been studying and performing music, to write new songs and create the show. They then performed around China, where Kamila figures prominently in the Beijing music scene. The band has just returned home to Wolfville, where Flinn and Ariana are well-loved for their duo, for creating opportunities for other
musicians to perform in Wolfville and for producing albums for many Canadian acts.
The band will perform the material they’ve written for their upcoming album, plus some old favourites, at upcoming shows on May 23 and 24. The new CD is expected to be released in July.
Both concerts start at 8 p.m. at the Al Whittle Theatre in Wolfville. Tickets can be purchased at Box of Delights Bookshop or online from their website.
