The whole Valley is Taking the Roof off Winter!

Take the Roof off Winter is delivered by Recreation Nova Scotia and funded by Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, runs from January to March.

Schools, community groups, clubs, businesses, families and friends across the Annapolis Valley are signing up to “Take the Roof off Winter,” a physical activity promotion campaign designed to help all ages improve their health and quality of life by getting out and getting active this winter. The campaign, delivered by Recreation Nova Scotia and funded by Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, runs from January to March.

Groups are encouraged to sign on as campaign supporters. Campaign supporters are municipalities, community groups, schools, businesses, families, groups of friends etc. that agree to coordinate five or more events/promotions and/or activities during the TTROW campaign.  Supporters can also sign up to organize a Winter Walk Day. Annapolis County

In Annapolis County there are a number of events already planned for this winter. The Annapolis County WinterACTIVE Team will be bringing kick sleds, snowshoes, Nordic walking poles, indoor and outdoor games to the following events:

  • Saturday, Feb. 1: Annapolis Royal Geocache Event – 2 to 4 p.m.

  • Sunday, Feb. 23: Nictaux FireETTES Event – 2 to 4 p.m.

Location: Nictaux Fire hall and Nictaux Old Ball Field. Contact: Marie  825-3091 wayne.marie@eastlink.ca. Notes: The first hour of this will be the outdoor activities at the old ball field. The second hour of this will take place at the Fire Hall for indoor games and refreshments.
