Farm market keeps going year round in Annapolis Royal

Historic Gardens is again home to the Annapolis Royal Winter Farmers Market that runs from mid-October through mid-May each year.

Annapolis Royal has had an amazing Farmers & Traders Market for more than 30 years now – the largest outdoor market in the Maritimes. And for the past five years has also been able to boast a winter market at The Gardens. The baton is handed back and forth between the two markets every October and May, resulting in a Year Round Farmers Market in two locations.

“Few other communities can boast of a well-supported, year-round farmers market, but that is exactly what we have here in Annapolis Royal,” says Gardens manager Trish Fry.

“It’s a cozy market, with vendors covering almost any local food product you can imagine: coffee, baked goods, jams and jellies, meat, poultry, fish, veggies, fruit, eggs, … and the list goes on.”

The market is located in the main entry and gift shop area.

“This year our market vendors are super-excited to welcome you to their newly renovated space, complete with a heat pump, new flooring, and enhanced lighting,” says Fry. “It is such a pleasant space to hang out on a winter Saturday morning.”

Fry said that while shoppers visit the Winter Market, they can also enjoy The Gardens as well, wandering with a coffee and croissant in hand. In the snowy season, they even have snowshoes for loan, and often a bonfire in the main courtyard to gather around and warm your hands.

“It’s a great social time as well as the perfect venue to buy your weekly supply of local food products,” says Fry.

Holiday Market Schedule:

The market will be open every Saturday in December from 9 a.m. to 12 noon to provide for your holiday needs. Many of the vendors are offering holiday-themed products and accepting special orders.
