Last Christmas Eve, a parishioner at St. Andrew’s United Church suffered heart problems and within minutes the volunteer Medical First Responders arrived to help stabilize the woman before the ambulance arrived.
Now the church wants to give back and help the first responders to reach their goal in raising the funds for a much-needed new ambulance.
On Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s United Church in Lockeport, there will be a fun night of music and laughter as the community performs a variety Christmas show in support of the Lockeport and Area Medical First Responders.
There will be a free will offering with all proceeds going toward the first responders fundraising campaign.
The evening of music, song, recitals and skits will be performed by Shelly MacIntosh, Cheryl Graul, Cyril Meagher, West Green Harbour Youth Group and many others.
“We are hoping people will be generous,” said George Harding who is one of the organizers. “It is toward something we all need.”
He choked up when talking of the close call last Christmas Eve and the wonderful service the Medical First Responders supplied, allowing the woman to tell the tale.
“If we can do something to promote their fundraising we will,” said Harding. “Even if its just by providing one more venue to support them.”
