A sleek new way of growing plants indoors has been developed by Suite Plants. LivePicture only needs to be watered every six weeks and mounts on a wall as easily as a picture frame.
The Garden & Floral Expo, presented by Landscape Ontario, takes place Oct. 23/24 in Toronto.
The Expo includes an annual showcase of hundreds of new products that will be enticing customers and sprucing up gardens and lawns when the 2014 season approaches.
“Year in and year out, the New Product Showcase at Expo remains one of our most popular features,” says Heather MacRae, Landscape Ontario’s director of events and trade shows.
The annual display of plants and products that will be in demand from consumers over the coming seasons is the ideal place to spot trends that will be all the rage when garden centres begin preparing for spring 2014. The show is tailored for novice and veteran retailers and designers.
No doubt there will be crowds around the LivePicture® by Suite Plants display.
This introduction bridges the gap between plant and art with a cleverly designed unit that contains interchangeable plant cassettes that easily snap in and out of a sleek frame. The framed plants hang on the wall as easily as a painting; no electricity needed.
These high-end units would look great anywhere, including offices, hotels, coffee shops, retail locations and conference centers. Water only needs to be added once every six weeks. Styles include “RemPlant” with two plant cassettes, a 4.5 gallon water tank and loaded weight of 77 pounds. “VanGrow” is smaller, weighing 55 pounds. Going beyond aesthetics, studies have shown the health benefits of having plants in home and office environments. According to a study conducted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), indoor plants play a powerful role in removing toxic agents from the air.
Although the owner of Omega Plastics Inc. didn't receive funding for her revolutionary Omega tree stand through Dragon's Den, her presentation made a strong impact and sales of the product are escalating. She touted the stand, which doesn't fall over and uses a plastic clamping system instead of screws, as a "marriage saver."
One woman can easily set up a 10-foot tree in under a moment with this stand. They retail for $39.99.
