This weekend provides an opportunity to see art in the making—everything from handcrafted shoes, jewelry collections, stained glass, ceramic tiles, and original oils on canvas.
Studio Rally features 50 artists and 19 galleries from Bear River to Parrsboro, from Lockeport to North Shore, Cape Breton.
In Bear River, Rob Buckland-Nicks at Flight of Fancy is opening his studio for the tour. He is well known for his bird paintings on stone and summons a kind of harmony that needs to be seen first-hand.
“Fifty artists across Nova Scotia are getting ready to roll out the welcome mat,” says series principal Paul Slipp. “Visitors will see an artist’s space up close, have an opportunity to discuss their work, and see the world through the artist’s eyes.”
The tradition of having a special weekend devoted to artisans and crafters across the province continues with the Studio Rally Weekend, which will be held Oct. 5-6. Artists and galleries will open studio doors and let you inside their inner workings in celebration of the arts in Nova Scotia.
Studio Rally is a juried selection of the finest of Nova Scotia art and craft. It has been part of the fabric of the province’s cultural mosaic since 1992.
