There’s lots of music and desserts at the Osprey on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 7:30 p.m.
It’s time again for that most delicious of Osprey annual fundraisers, “Not Just Desserts.” There’s lots of music and desserts at the Osprey on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s line-up features the much loved Pit Band, locally renowned as the band in many a live Basement Theatre production. Led by Bill Smith, the band will lead off the first and second sets.
Last year, Shelburne welcomed a new voice to the Osprey, that of classically trained Amanda Pedro. She takes to the stage again this year with an entertaining set of songs.
This year for the first time, the audience can enjoy a story with musical accompaniment. Author Kathleen Tudor will read from her new collection of short stories. She’ll read a story in two parts spread over the two sets.
Other musicians include Pat Melanson and Alex Buchanan with some Acadian style swing and a surprise addition. Merrie Howe will emcee the event. She’s promising a surprise as well.
On top of the great music, this fundraiser features the best cakes, pies, squares and more by the best chefs, cooks and talented hobbyists in town. The cakes and other desserts at this event are always dazzling. Some will be served at the intermission. Others will be auctioned. Coffee and tea will be served with the desserts and, as always, the bar is open.
Seating in the Osprey’s theatre will be tables and chairs for this event so desserts can be enjoyed in comfort. Desserts and refreshments for those in the balcony will be served in the lobby at intermission.
Not Just Desserts is a night that pairs the best local music with the best local baking to raise funds to support the Osprey’s on-going work.
Tickets are $17 for adults, $7 for students. Tickets are on sale now through the Osprey box office (875-2359), TLC Pharmacy, all Ticket Pro locations and on line at the Osprey’s website and at www.ticketpro.ca
