Major closure of Nova Scotia coastline to shellfish harvesting

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has closed the entire coastline of Nova Scotia to shellfish harvesting, except scallops.

The order is effective immediately due to the extreme rainfall and will stay in place until assessments are completed by Environment Canada.

The closure covers out to 1.6 km (one mile) from the tip of Cape Breton along the Atlantic Coast and the Bay of Fundy (counties of Victoria, Cape Breton, Richmond, Guysborough, Halifax, Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants, Colchester and Cumberland)
