Yarmouth Town RCMP report

During the period of Sept. 19-30, the Yarmouth Town RCMP Detachment received 122 calls for service.

This included: five causing a disturbance, seven property damage, eight assaults, six theft unders (theft under $5,000), two break and enters into residences, one break and enter into a business, four motor vehicle collisions, five 911 hang-ups, 13 false alarms, five Mental Health Act investigations, one Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, four shoplifting, one drunk in a public place, two fraud investigations and six other Criminal Code.

The following is a summary of some of the calls.

On Sept. 28 at 9:23 p.m., the detachment received a 911 call about two girls fighting on Carleton Street.

On Sept. 27 at 2:33 p.m., received a call from the Yarmouth County Museum of vandalism. Exterior walls of the museum had been spray-painted.

On Sept. 27 at 7:21 p.m., received a call from Havelock Drive of suspicious activity involving a group of youths lighting fires.

On Sept. 26 at 7 p.m., hit and run motor vehicle collision near Main and Vancouver.

On Sept 24 at 10:40 a.m., motor vehicle collision on Starrs Soad, no injuries, two vehicles involved.

On Sept. 24 at 12:01 p.m. shoplifter at Wal-Mart.

On Sept. 24 at 9:09 p.m., mischief complaint from Havelock Drive where there had been an attempt to light the playground’s equipment on fire.

On Sept. 25 at 2:53 a.m., received a call to assist Emergency Health Services on James Street. Paramedics were unable to gain entry into a house.

On Sept. 21 at 3:35 p.m., responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Gator Byte. Adult male located and arrested.

On Sept. 21 at 4:38 p.m., responded to a call to assist Canada customs at the ferry terminal with respect to a passenger who was arrested for possession of marijuana.

On Sept. 21, 7:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of a break and enter on Cann Street that had occurred to a vacant apartment during the two previous weeks. Culprits had sprayed food colouring on the walls.

On Sept. 23 at 2:10 a.m., responded to a 911 call of a fight in progress in the Red Knight parking lot.

On Sept. 20 at 4:23 p.m., received a complaint of a theft from a vehicle. Someone overnight had removed the front bumper from his 1990 Volkswagon Jetta.

On Sept. 19 at 4:23 p.m., gas and dash from the Starrs Road Irving.

On Sept. 20 at 1:09 a.m., complaint of vehicles racing in the parking lot of Superstore.
