A former Windsor pastor was convicted and sentenced on child pornography charges in Surrey, B.C. December 8. Larry Robert Collins a 45-year-old pastor from the Church of Nazarene in Surrey, BC was convicted and sentenced to 15 months in jail followed by 3 years probation for possession of Child Pornography.

On June 10, 2008 the BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit became involved in a Child Pornography investigation involving a video produced showing a young teenage victim (the name and location of the victim is being withheld to protect the child’s identity). The video included sexually explicit scenes and was interspersed with photographs of the victim on which writing encouraged her “rape”.

The investigation led police to Pastor Larry Robert Collins of Surrey, BC who confessed to making the video and distributing it on the Internet.

Collins also created online accounts impersonating the victim and encouraging people to visit a web link where the video was displayed. Collins also posted the victims name and hometown, which jeopardized the child’s safety.

Collins was originally charged with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Crown counsel stayed the charge of distribution of child pornography and proceeded with the charge of possession of child pornography. In his judgment, the judge highlighted the true heinous nature of this crime and expressed that such crimes should not be tolerated. The judge proceeded to sentence Collins to 15 months in jail followed by 3 years of Probation.

Despite being shaken up by the incident, the teenage girl is safe and sound with her family.
