Enfield Detachment received 58 calls concerning various occurrences over the week period between Dec. 12 to Dec. 19. There were a number of cases that stood out.
At approximately 0100 hours, Dec. 13, Enfield RCMP encountered a suspicious vehicle on Highway 2 in Elmsdale. Police intercepted the vehicle and found that the male driver was showing signs of impairment.
Police apprehended the driver and charged him with driving a motor vehicle while impaired. This was allegedly the driver’s third impaired operation charge, therefore he was also served with a notice that a greater penalty would be sought in the court matter. He is due to appear in court at a later date.
At approximately 0115 hours, Dec. 14, Enfield RCMP encountered a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 202 in Kennetcook. The male driver then allegedly proceeded to turn off the vehicle’s taillights and evade police.
Police located and subsequently apprehended the 20-year-old male suspect and charged him for impaired operation. He is scheduled to appear in court in the New Year.
Between 02:15 hrs and 02:55 hours, Dec. 19, an adult male suspect stole four tires from a vehicle parked in the parking lot at Hubley Auto Sales in Elmsdale. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is urged to contact Enfield RCMP.
During the week between Sunday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, Windsor Rural RCMP were kept busy responding to 78 calls.
Among the calls received, three regarded alleged dangerous driving complaints; 12 reports of traffic collisions, one that resulted in a fatality, and two involving deer; four complaints of alleged thefts of property valued at less than $5,000; one concerning harassing telephone calls; one call regarding a suspicious person; one animal call; one complaint of alleged impaired driving; seven requests for assistance; two reports of possible breaches of court orders; five reports concerning assaults; three calls under the Family Relations Act; two complaints concerning disturbing of the peace disturbing the peace; four calls regarding thefts of motor
Vehicles; two Mental Health Act-related calls; one sudden death; one complaint under the Controlled Drugs
Substances Act (CDSA); two reports involving trespassing at night; three complaints under the Municipal Bylaws; one report of harassing telephone calls; one concerning an alleged fraud; one call under the Child Welfare Act; and one noise bylaw complaint.
In addition, detachment members attended nine false 911 calls, which in most instance were made by citizens trying to contact directory assistance. There were also 12 false calls concerning businesses or residences.

For example, sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 14, 2008 unknown, a person or persons unknown stole a Nova Scotia license plate from a vehicle parked at a residence on Highway 14, Rawdon Gold Mines.
Sometime during the early morning hours of Dec. 17, 2008, aperson or persons unknown stole furnace oil from a residence on 779 Windsor Back Road, Three Mile Plains.
Windsor Town RCMP were busy reacting to 33 calls Between Sunday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008. Among these calls, one was a complaint concerning a theft of property valued at less than $5,000; and two calls regarded reported disturbances of the peace. Other incidents ranged from one complaint concerning suspicious persons; two reports of dangerous driving; one report of mischief involving damage costing less than $5,000 to property; two moving traffic complaints; two reports of alleged impaired driving; one call concerning a motor vehicle collision; two reports of impaired driving; two reports of assault; one call concerning uttering a threats; one false 911 call; one reported sexual assault; and three false alarms calls.
