Between Sunday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, Hants County RCMP had a busy week, responding to 92 calls.

Among the calls the detachment received were six complaints regarding alleged dangerous driving; nine reports of traffic collisions – four involving deer; five calls concerning mischief, damage costing less than $5,000 to property; three pertaining to thefts of property valued at less than $5,000; three complaints of suspected impaired driving; 16 calls for assistance; three reports involving the of uttering of threats; two calls concerning arson; eight calls under the Wildlife Act; three reports of alleged breaches of the peace; and one call under the Mental Health Act.

In addition to responding to those complaints, detachment members attended seven false 911 calls, which, in most instances, were made by citizens trying to call directory assistance. There were also false calls pertaining to residences or businesses.

Hants County RCMP are also investigating a number of higher profile incidents, and anyone with information on the person of persons responsible are asked to contact Windsor RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

Sometime between Oct. 2 and Nov. 8, 2008, a person or persons unknown stole an outboard motor from a residence in Three Mile Plains.

Police are still investigating the incident between Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and the early morning hours of Nov. 2, 2008, when a person or persons unknown threw two large rocks through two windows of Anthony’s Esso Station, Highway 354, Kennetcook.

Sometime during the early morning hours of Nov 8, 2008, a person or persons unknown damaged a mailbox with a golf club on Highway 14, Rawdon Gold Mines.

Sometime during the evening of Nov. 7, 2008, a person or persons unknown damaged a number of mailboxes on Highway 202, West Gore. --

Between Sunday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 Windsor Town RCMP experienced a brisk week, responding to 40 calls.

Among the calls received, one was in response to a theft of property valued at less than $5,000 and four reports concerned disturbing the peace. The other reported incidents ranged from suspicious persons, one call of uttering threats, three reports of mischief involving damage costing less than $5,000 to property; four moving traffic complaints; two calls under the Controlled Drugs Substances Act (CDSA), three reports of suspected impaired driving; two complaints under the Protection of Property Act; three reports of collisions; two involving false 911 calls; and two false alarms. --

The Enfield RCMP Detachment received 77 occurrences from Nov. 7 to Nov. 13. The following are highlights from the calls.

At approximately 00:34 hrs, Nov. 8, Enfield RCMP responded to a 911 call of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident in South Maitland where one male was reported to be seriously injured.

Upon arriving at the scene, volunteer firefighters

assessed and treated the driver for head injuries, waiting for paramedics to arrive. Investigation revealed that the male driver was showing signs of impairment. Due to his serious injuries, he was transported to Colchester Hospital. While at the hospital, he was given the blood demand to which he refused to provide samples. Charges are pending.

At approximately 02:05 hrs, Nov. 9, Enfield RCMP members noted three suspicious vehicles parked by a church in Lantz. Two males were subsequently charged, one for illegally possession of liquor under the Liquor Control Act and the other male was charged for unlawfully possessing a substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

At approximately 08:10 hrs, Nov. 10, Enfield RCMP were called to Hants North Rural High School. It was reported that a school bus had been vandalized sometime over the weekend. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Enfield RCMP Detachment.

At approximately 22:52 hrs, Nov. 10, Enfield RCMP responded to a 911 call of a large group of youth fighting in the Elmwood Subdivision in Elmsdale.

It was reported that weapons were involved, including bear mace and 2x4 boards. Several people sustained serious injuries. The investigation is still ongoing.

Over the past week, Enfield RCMP have responded to numerous calls from concerned citizens regarding possible deer jacking complaints.

Deer hunting season began Friday, Oct. 31, and the five-week season excludes Sundays and runs until Dec. 6. If you suspect deer jacking in your area, please contact DNR at 1-800-565-2224 or email DNR at REPORTAPOACHER@gov.ns.ca.
