Behind the badge, Windsor

With summer fast approaching, it usually means an increase in Calls for Service for Windsor District RCMP. This edition of Behind the Badge is an indication that summer is almost here. Between Monday, May 12 and Sunday, May 19, Windsor District RCMP responded to a total of 132 calls for service.

Of these there were 17 false alarms that were called in and responded to, and only three misdialed 911 calls.

Police are investigating eight complaints of assault, four complaints of uttering threats, and seven reports of disturbing the peace.

There were 11 reported theft-related complaints, one reported fraud, four reports of break and enter, and seven complaints of damage to property.

Windsor District RCMP investigated three reported traffic collisions, four impaired drivers, and a total of 24 traffic-related incidents.

Police remind the motoring public to obey all traffic rules. RCMP Traffic Services Section is and will be conducting traffic checks throughout the spring and summer months. The obvious intent is to make our roads safer for everyone.

Looking at the CrimeStoppers report, Windsor District RCMP is investigating the theft of a 2005 silver Ford Ranger belonging to the Town of Windsor. Sometime between midnight and 9 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, the truck was taken from in front of a residence on Chestnut Street in Windsor. The vehicle was located later in the morning, burnt, in a remote area of the county.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. someone damaged the quarter panel of a 1998 gold Toyota. The car was parked near 240 King Street close to the Windsor Courthouse.
