Police have charged a Wolfville man in connection with a series of break, entry and thefts in the Wolfville area earlier this year.

Kings RCMP arrested a 27-year-old Wolfville resident at around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, April 8, as a result of a reported domestic assault complaint in the Avonport area.

The suspect fled on foot from the scene and was located a short distance later with the assistance of New Minas and Wolfville RCMP members along with the Police Service Dog unit.

While the accused was in police custody, an unrelated ongoing investigation had already identified the accused as allegedly involved in a series of break, enter and thefts into businesses in the town of Wolfville. The break-ins were reported to police in February, March and early April this year.

He is charged with four counts of break, enter and theft; two counts of possession of stolen property; and several assault-related charges.

The suspect was held in custody until his appearance in Kentville provincial court April 10, when he pleaded guilty to one break-in.

Judge Alan Tufts remanded the accused and scheduled him to return to court April 16 for sentencing on the guilty plea and show cause hearing on the other charges.
