By Carla Allen THE COAST GUARD NovaNewsNow.com The Barrington arena will be receiving $114,000 in energy-saving improvements from the Recreation Facility Association of Nova Scotia.

Topics :
Nova Scotia Power , National Resource Council of Canada

The non-profit organization works on behalf of recreational facilities across the province and conducted a study on the Barrington arena last year.

Some of the recommended renovations include the installation of more energy-efficient lighting, a heat recovery project and water treatment to improve ice-making.

Because of sourced funding from Health Promotion and Protection, Nova Scotia Power, EcoNovaScotia, Conserve Nova Scotia and the National Resource Council of Canada, the municipality only has to contribute 20 per cent ($23,000) towards the project.
