If last weekend's first Chicks with Sticks hockey tournament is any indication, the future is looking bright for female hockey.

The event attracted teams from around the Maritimes with more than 350 players taking the ice at Mariners Centre during the three-day event. Organizers are already talking about next year.

The following are the results from the medal games of the five divisions:

Peewee gold game — Halifax Hawks 3 - Eastern Shore Mariners 2.

Peewee bronze game — West Valley Vixens 6 - Yarmouth Mariners 1.

Midget gold game — Western Valley Vixens 4 - Acadia 2.

Midget bronze game — Dartmouth Whalers 4 - Yarmouth Mariners 0.

Bantam (red) gold game — Sackville Flyers 4 - Chebucto Atlantics 1.

Bantam (red) bronze game — Cole Harbour 3 - Western Valley Vixens 1.

Bantam (blue) gold game — Antigonish Bulldogs 3 - Bedford Blues 1.

Bantam (blue) bronze game — Eastern Shore Mariners 3 - TASA 1.

Midget AAA gold game — Bathurst Northern Stars 4 - Metro Boston Pizza 2.

Midget AAA bronze game — East Hants Penguins 5 - Subway Northern Storm 0.
