Letter to the Annapolis County Spectator

Dear Editor:

Last Sunday, my wife and I went for a walk around our now ice-covered duck pond, an ideal place to walk. Town employees had plowed two rink-sized areas for hockey, plus a long skating area.

Two young men were passing the puck around, hardly enough for a game of shinny. I thought, my, how things have changed. Years ago a gang of us would walk a mile to shovel off an area and play hockey for four hours and walk home.

It is no coincidence that all animals are genetically programmed to romp and play when young. This activity helps develop our vital organs, our heart, lungs circulatory system, etc…

What is going to happen to this computer/television generation when they reach 60? Perhaps nothing, they may not live that long.
